ABOUT ASHLEIGH VAN DAMME/FOUNDER:
Selene Interiors, founded by Ashleigh in 2020, embodies passion, expertise, and a commitment to creating unique, stunning and functional spaces. With formal qualifications in Design and Decoration, along with nearly two decades of experience in Styling, Visual Merchandising, and Small Business Management, Ashleigh is dedicated to transforming houses into dream homes.
As the first female business owner in her family, Ashleigh takes pride in her entrepreneurial lineage. Her upbringing instilled in her a strong work ethic and a passion for business. She values every aspect of small business ownership and is committed to continuous learning and growth.
Ashleigh’s mission is to combine her love for designing unique spaces with her passion for managing and supporting small businesses. She takes seriously the responsibility of transforming her clients' homes and feels honoured to be entrusted with such an important task.
COMMUNITY SUPPORT:
When Ashleigh established Selene Interiors, one of her main objectives was contributing to the community. After extensive research, she discovered Worthy Australia, which Selene Interiors has sponsored since 2021. Their Safe Haven program focuses on converting empty houses into fully furnished homes for families who have left domestic violence refuges. Selene Interiors donates $500 worth of soft furnishings and decor items annually. Previously, Selene Interiors organised a charity art event to raise funds for this great cause. They also facilitated an Artist in Residence Program at the charity's headquarters, providing an excellent opportunity to support the local Perth art scene while raising money for the charity.
ABOUT THE NAME:
After delving into Greek mythology, Ashleigh discovered Selene, a goddess with powers that deeply resonated with her. Selene is the master of intuition, the gut feeling. Picture yourself at a crossroads, feeling uncertain, and suddenly, Selene sparks that gut feeling, gently guiding you towards clarity.
